Therapy
Treatment of hemorrhoids
The most important aspect of the medical treatment is the regularization of the intestinal function. It is better to reach this aim by increasing the fiber intake than with laxatives.
The pharmacological therapy for the treatment of hemorrhoids should be differentiated in oral and local. Vasoprotectors as rutin, diosmin, eperidin are generally used orally and they can be helpful for hemorrhoids. There are numerous preparations for local use; generally they are associations of anti-inflammatory substances, local anesthetics and vasoprotectors. They may have some efficacy to relieve the symptoms of hemorrhoids.
When these conservative are not helpful for the treatment of hemorrhoids, the patients could opt for other treatments, like the out-patients procedures (i.e. rubber band ligation or sclerotherapy) or the different surgical methods: the least invasive surgical option is the THD. |
